Yes, it’s that time again: the annual RAFTA One-Act Play Festival (OAPF) will soon be upon us! I’m looking forward to another jam-packed Festival with 11 clubs bringing 14 plays! This year we return to Whittle Hall at RAF Cranwell, Sleaford, NG34 8HB, with Ben Humphrey as our adjudicator (see http://www.goda.t83.net/#/ben-humphrey/4548069897 for Ben’s bio).
We (the RAFTA Committee) would love for you to join us at the Festival! Whether it is for the whole weekend, just one day or even maybe a few hours, you are more than welcome. The weekend will follow a similar format to previous years and although finite timings for the weekend are still to be determined, we will aim to start at 0945 on both the Saturday and the Sunday, therefore please make sure that you are seated in the Whittle Hall auditorium by 0940 prior to the first play commencing at 1000. To conclude the Festival, we will aim to hold the Prize Giving by no later than 1630 on the Sunday. There will also be a social function on the Saturday evening in the Hollowday Bowl at RAF Cranwell, starting at 2000 (depending on whether we have kept to time on the day!). Tickets for the party will not be necessary as food will not be provided on this occasion, however, bar snacks are available at your own cost.
If you do wish to attend the Festival and require a car pass for the day/weekend then please contact the OAPF Coordinator/Vice-Chairman, Lissy Mason by email email@example.com with your car details (make, model, colour and registration) and which day it is required for by no later than Friday 9th May 2014.
The cost of the entry to the Festival is £12 per person and is to be paid, by cheque, to a RAFTA Committee Member stationed at the Whittle Hall entrance on arrival. Regretfully, the Festival cost does not cover individual meals in the Messes. This year we will be having meals in the Sergeants’ Mess, which works on a Pay As You Dine system and will require cash payment at the meal counter (typically less than £2 per meal if you go for the basic core option).
If you would like accommodation in the Candidates’ Mess at a cost of £10 per person for either the Friday or Saturday evening (or both), please contact Lissy Mason (details as before) and let her know your requirements by no later than Friday 9th May 2014. Accommodation will be given on a first come first served basis with priority given to Clubs taking part in the Festival.
